Linn County Historic Preservation Grant Now Open for Applications

LINN COUNTY, Iowa — The Linn County Historic Preservation Commission Grant is now open for applications. This annual grant, totaling $28,800, is available for non-profits working on historic preservation projects in the county.

Who Can Apply?

Only non-profit organizations based in Linn County are eligible to apply. Individual applicants will not be considered. Grant awards depend on the strength of the applications and adherence to commission guidelines.

Eligible Projects

Projects must focus on preserving historical artifacts, landmarks, or structures. This includes:

  • National Register of Historic Places nominations
  • Maintaining a historical library or collection
  • Conducting historical research and studies
  • Publishing educational materials on local history
  • Hosting public lectures on historic topics
  • Other initiatives that promote and preserve Linn County’s rich history

Grant Clinic

Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an in-person grant clinic
at the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center on Wednesday, February 19, at 4 p.m..
The session will provide guidance on the application process and eligibility criteria.
